A soldier
serving as a military police officer allegedly watched from Afghanistan
as his wife had sex with a 15-year-old girl over the video chat service
Skype, police have said.
Shawn
Raymo, 22, and his wife Jessica Raymo, 21, were both arrested on
Tuesday on charges of using of child in a séxual performance and
endangering child welfare.
Police say Jessica Raymo broadcast the performance from the couple's home on the Fort Drum in Upstate New York.
The alleged crime took place in July 2011, when Shawn Raymo was deployed in Afghanistan.
He returned from deployment last fall, though the charges only recently came to light, police say.
It's
unclear what the young couple's relation to the 15-year-old girl is,
though the Utica Observer-Dispatch reports that she may have been from
Madison County, which is about two hours south of Fort Drum.
Police say Jessica Raymo had oral sex with the teen and broadcast it from her webcam to her husband, via the internet.
Skype,
which allows live video chats, is a common way for soldiers to keep in
touch with their families during long deployments overseas.
They were being held on $5,000 bail.
A
spokesman for Fort Drum told the New York Daily News he had never heard
of anything like the alleged séx crime happening with soldiers at the
U.S Army post before.
'We are constantly trying to brief our soldiers on things that they should not be doing,' Lt Col David Konop.
Police are waiting for grand jury results on the case.
