Joseph Yobo: We must prepare very well for Afcon
The super Eagles captain Joseph Yobo has praised his teammates to high heavens for delivering the 2013 Africa Nations Cup ticket in his absence due to the injury he cupped while playing for his Turkish club, Fenerbahce.
The former Everton central defender cum right back had picked up the injury some few days to the Eagles’ make or mar match which made him feel bad, and at a point moved to tears, that he won’t be able to lead his team to the Battle of Calabar.
The elated player who was short of words gave all glory and honour to Almighty God that made it possible and to his teammates and technical crew that worked very hard to achieve the feat.
“Like I said when I was in Nigeria for the first leg of the match against Liberia then, it would be very bad for us to miss out of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa. So firstly I thank the Almighty God for crowning our efforts and for my teammates and the technical crew led by Coach Stephen Keshi for doing a good job that fetched us this ticket. It was a collective job. The fans played their part and the media too and Nigeria is the winner and beneficiary,” Yobo told Goal.com.
“Now we must prepare very hard than ever for us to have a successful tournament in South Africa”, the gangling defender said.
Yobo also disclosed that he is fast recuperating and would soon be back on the pitch. "I think I am getting better by the day and will soon return to action", he said.
