2face and Annie Idibia got a brand new Toyota Prado SUV from the Akwa Ibom state governor, Godswill Akpabio, as wedding gift. The state government today released a photo showing Annie and 2face being presented with the SUV by the state's commissioner for Information, Aniekan Umanah. 

Not only did governor Akpabio give them an SUV, he also promised to fund the traveling expenses of 20 of Annie's family members to their Dubai wedding.

The generous wedding gift from the governor caused a lot of tongue to wag online forcing the Akwa Ibom State government to release a statement defending it.

Governor Akpabio purchases million-dollar bullet proof luxury vans?

    
   

Just months after purchasing a $45 million dollar jet, and a few days after recklessly doling out several thousands of dollars to Nigerian music star, 2Face and his wife, Akwa Ibom State Governor Godswill Akpabio has taken possession of several bulletproof sprinter luxury vans from US based Texas Armoring Corporation (TAC).

A source told Saharareporters that the governor took delivery of the Mercedes Benz made vans recently after they were customized to his specifications by TAC in Texas.

Youth corper asked to leave NYSC camp for refusing to wear trousers

                              

Reactions have started trailing the decamping of 2013 Batch A, female corps member, Ms Tolu Ekundayo, by the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Ogun State for wearing skirt at the Shagamu orientation camp.

In a press conference organised by Ekundayo’s church, Faith Revival Apostolic Church, FRAC, in Lagos, the expelled corps member  said she was asked to leave the camp at about 11.00pm on March 8, 2013 by the Ogun State NYSC Co-ordinator, for her refusal to put on trousers.

         She explained that her refusal to wear trousers was not in disobedience to NYSC authorities but
          in line with her belief and faith in God.

Nigerian man jailed 14yrs for trafficking teenagers from the UK to use as prostitutes across Europe

A Nigerian man has been jailed for 14 years for his role in the 'horrific' ordeal of two teenage girls being trafficked via London to work as prostitutes in mainland Europe.

A court heard Odosa Usiobaifo, 35, from Enfield, north London, was involved in a 'significant' organised crime gang trafficking young women for the purposes of sexual exploitation.

Usiobaifo was arrested after two Nigerian girls missing from local authority care in London were given false passports and tickets and placed on a flight to Spain.

The flavour of the moment, known to all simply as Iyanya whose full name is Iyanya Mbuk is said to be in mad love at the moment. Forget the more popular names like Yvonne Nelson or even Tonto Dikeh. None of the 2 are a match for the new flavour in his life. 

According to our sources, the most important person to the ''Kukere and Your Waist crooner'' apart from God and his family right now is F.E.F.......In case you are still curious to know what the initials stand for, it's none other than Freda Edewor Francis. 

For those who don't know, Freda is one of the hardest working young ladies in the country. So liquid is Freda, that some even speculate she's one of the most liquid young ladies in the country. She lives at her own apartment (bought by her), she drives amongst several cars, a Range Rover Evoque and a custom made Jaguar, before these ones she had driven a Range Rover Sports and even a BMW X6 SUV.

STYLE 101 AT THE AMVCA 2013-THE GOOD, THE BAD & THE OUTRIGHT UGLY

Away from every other thing about the maiden or inaugural edition  of the AfricaMagic Viewers Choice Award 2013. It was the first ever edition of what should turn out to be one of the best thing to happen to movie and entertainment in Africa. Like someone said, this is our own OSCARS, so we all should support to get to the highest level. Nigeria should be commended for being the host of the first show. Though there were little technical hitches here and there, the organisers still delivered on all points. Kudos to them for a job well done.

We are sure this is one of the biggest events hosted in Lagos, Nigeria for a while now. 1500 guests from all the different sectors came. The Federal Government was ably represented by the Ministers of Petroleum Resources (Diezanni Allison-Madueke), For Culture & Tourism (Chief Edem Duke) & For Trade & Investments (Olusegun Aganga). Curiously the host state, Lagos was missing in action, no State Governor, and we didn't hear of any representatives. 

Away from all of that and to how our stars, celebrities etc did on the style stake. Not wanting to talk too much, some of these stars/celebrities seem to have come to the understanding of their shapes, sizes, body contours very well, so they always make sure to dress to accentuate their best features. Style-wise, some seem to have a good understanding of the number one rule of fashion and watchword; Simplicity, while others still need to go to school to learn or something. When you try to do too much or take on what's not your forte, you just go terribly wrong. 

Let's just check out some of the one's we saw, Genevieve Nnaji, our ever gorgeous actress seem to define the word simplicity in every facet, either she's absolutely good by herself or her stylist must be very good. She first wore a simple well cut, white outfit that was made for her by one of Nigeria's fastest growing and most impressive designers in a while, Bridget Awosika. It was a sexy, yet very functional dress;  which showed just a hint of the chest, without being vulgar. For her change of outfit, she wore what we have tagged as ''yellow like gold''. The colour seems to be one of the colours of the season and it takes the bold to wear it, as there's a thin line between getting it well and missing it. Never knew, Genny had such nice curves on such petite frame. Outfit was by April by Kunbi, a Nigerian label owned by New York trained Kunbi Oyelese.

CHRIS & WIZZY- THE BEGINNING OF A GOOD THING OR THE START OF A MADNESS

CHRIS BROWN & WIZKID We totally love Chris 'Breezy'' Brown, we are of the believe that he is one of the most talented musician /dancer in the whole world. He also seems to be enjoying the best of love now, after reconciling with his heartthrob-Rihanna, the pair seem to be on the rollercoaster of love and we wish them well.

But underneath the facade, we also think that Chris is a raging time-bomb. Why? We are sure some must be quick to want to know. He seems to enjoy being on the edge and that's very dangerous. He seems like many to love the weed so much, it could become very dangerous. And he seemingly loves to get into fights. 

Is that all we are about? No no no. This new friendship, mutual respect between Mr. Breezy and Wizkid though a very good one, as it allows for a fantastic collaboration and the much required breakthrough into main stream America. For someone easily impressionable it can be very dangerous, going out together wanting to be the ''guy''.  It's the short and very quick road to drugs, drinking, debauchery and all else. 

We ain't saying anything negative. We are just hoping that, discipline would be a watchword.

Something seems to have changed with Nicki Minaj. Her style is not just about grabbing the attention any which way you can anymore. At least for the past few weeks. It's the sophisticated Nicki Minaj we are all seeing nowadays oooo. 

And truth be told, we love it. Though still has colourful as ever, but now in a more classy and gorgeous way. Way to go Nicki.

Pregnant Kim K rushed to the doctors for exercising too much

                                   
Is too much exercise bad for pregnant women? I ask because pregnant Kim Kardashian was rushed to the hospital on Tuesday night after she felt ill. She thought she was having a miscarriage.

She was discharged a few hours later with her doctor supposedly telling her to slow down with the amount of exercise she's doing.

Kim is believed to be working out seven days a week and working with two different trainers in a bid to keep the pregnancy weight gain under control.

Abia State University revokes former governor Orji Kalu’s 1st degree certificate

                                 
Abia State University released a statement yesterday Saturday March 2nd saying that they have withdrawn the degree certificate they awarded the former governor of the state, Uzor Orji Kalu. 

The school said they took the decision after they found out that the former governor's admission was flawed. Orji Kalu enrolled at the university when he was governor of the state but only spent two semesters there.

The school is now saying his admission and graduation violated the school's rules and regulations. They didn't know before giving him the certificate? Lol and SMH!
